What is 3D printing?
3D printing is a technology that creates physical objects from digitally designed models by depositing layers material on top of each other. Depending on the type of technology and the characteristics required by the component, the material can be deposited and then fused or deposited in a fused/liquid condition.

Creating objects by adding material layer by layer is pretty much like an inkjet printer creating an image. 3D printing is indeed known as additive manufacturing because it adds material rather than removing it to create a desired shape as it happens in traditional subtractive methods such as milling or carving.

3D printing encompasses different manufacturing technologies and a wide range of materials with diverse mechanical properties, each suitable for specific applications: aerospace, automotive, medical, architecture, and consumer goods, especially electronic products already take advantage of the qualities of 3D printing, while other most diverse fields (cement, food, organs and more) are entering this amazing world!

At WEPYI, we design and build with the most diverse technologies and a wide range of materials to cover all the possible uses of 3D printed components: from mock-ups to aerospace quality certified components.

Dimensional tolerance, precision, accuracy, and surface finish depend again on the 3d printer, the materials, and the technologies. Tolerance on dimensions can be as low as +-0.05mm without any additional machining or treatment, while surface finish generally requires additional treatment in case of very smooth surface finish.
